Well it's that time of the year again, it's the festive season. You've seen all the decorations at your local shopping malls and shopping centers. Christmas is here, and everyone is going crazy once again over their favorite Christmas Carols. My personal favorite is Silent Night, the lyrics have a deeper meaning to me, and that's what draws me towards the beautiful carol. The words to all the songs are extremely influential in times like these, and urge families to stick together.

Whenever I read the lyrics, I find myself singing the song. Today has been dubbed d-day for the Xbox 360 live update. Millions of fans worldwide have been anticipating the release, and many Xbox 360 news sites are reporting that it should happen anytime soon.

The new update should allow gamers to install complete games onto the hard drive of their Xbox 360, and this is what has made many gamers worried. Apparently the idea of this dashboard update is that the console will now improve performance and reduce loading times drastically. Popular TV presenter Mika Brzezinski appeared on Morning Joe earlier today. It was no ordinary show by any means, apparently her dad also featured on the show. The internet has seen a burst of interest in Mika today after the show, probably because plenty of people were watching.

Mika Brzezinski has been quite popular recently and if internet trends tell us anything then we will see more interest into her than one would normally expect. TV rating seem to go up when she features, and people listen, so it's only a matter of time until her popularity grows even more.

Another big incident that happens today will be the XBox 360 update, many fans from around the world are wondering if their 360 hard drive will be big enough to handle the update. News from Mozilla Firefox 3 Download Day

Today, the 17th of June was supposed to be the official download day for Mozilla's new Firefox 3.

Mozilla are attempting to break a world record today and get the most downloads on a single piece of software worldwide in a single day.

Version 3 of their Firefox browser went live at 10AM in California, and their servers have been getting hit hard. Various sites reported that there might have been a hack on the mozilla site, with some people seeing a message "<<<<<<< .mine =======" on top of the download page. This was just most likely something Mozilla put in place to further keep track of the downloads taking place.
At 10AM the getfirefox.com website seemed to be down and it was giving a server error. Many fans will be asking the question where can I download firefox 3? Mozilla have placed various links throughout their site pointing to the firefox 3 download, and the getfirefox website is also redirecting to the download page now.

3 hours later, at about 1PM Californian time, the download Firefox page was still displaying a "Download Firefox 2" message, even though the link was pointing to the new version 3. Right now everything seems fixed up, and we'll soon hear about the final download count in a day or two.

Tiger Woods had an amazing day at the US Open golf tournament yesterday. He managed to putt one of the (arguably) best golf putts of his life on Sunday 15 June 2008.

Soccer Riot Breaks Out in Colombia Leaving 80 Injured

A soccer riot broke out in a soccer match last night. The match was played between two teams from Colombia in their national soccer league. The reason for the riot by the fans was that the referee refused to give one team a penalty which they were extremely unhappy about and so it resulted in a soccer riot in Colombia.

The match was called off and 80 people were injured from the riots. There are 10 people in a serious condition suffering injuries from what happened at the soccer match. This is not something one would typically expect from a Colombian soccer match since soccer tickets are always sold out for such fixtures.

White Killer Whale Spotted Picture

Researchers in Alaska have managed to spot a white killer whale and have managed to to take a picture of the white orca. The sighting has made big news because very little is known about pure white orca and how they actually occur in nature.

A blogger was quick to upload one of the pictures of the white killer whale which was taken by one of the researchers. You can find the white killer whale picture here. The researcher who spotted the white killer whale stated that seeing something like this is equivalent to finding a needle in a haystack.

Apparently this specific white killer whale is not a complete albino because it still contains some dark marks on it's body, but from what I can see in the picture it looks pure white. The researchers only saw the spotting as a bonus and did not conduct any research on the specific white killer whale.

An American student apparently made this short film animation clip. The graphics have been rendered to phenomenal world class perfection, and could even be up to the standard of Pixar and several other major animation companies.

I was really impressed by such work and quite surprised to hear that a university student is capable of such kind of work. From this, it's quite clear to see that movie animation is advancing very quickly and with talent like this, the future of animated movies looks very bright! It all means we'll have more to watch, more to enjoy!

University of Free State South Africa Clip

Today I came across quite a shocking video, it was made by students at a university in South Africa (UFS) and done as part of initiation (when a newcomer arrives at university). Four students were involved and played a practical joke on cleaning staff at the university.

My Afrikaans (native South African language in the video) is not that great, but from what I can understand is that they are telling the workers that this is a competition of "Fear Factor" and that this is food which has been prepared for them. Not long after the workers start complaining about it, even start swearing at the students. For the participation in the "Fear Factor" event the university students give the workers a gift - who seem quite happy although unaware of what they were actually forced to eat.

The video has caused a massive uproar in South Africa, with the University canceling all classes for the day to try and solve all the protesting by the students.

Eduardo da Silva Tackle Arsenal Soccer Match

Well here's one for all the soccer fans out there. This weekend there was a huge soccer match in England where Eduardo da Silva from a major team: Arsenal, got one of the most horrific soccer tackles in the past few years. Eduardo da Silva went into surgery right after the tackle. He was tackled by an English player known as Martin Taylor.

Today da Silva was moved to the London hospital to receive further treatment and whether or not he will be allowed to play soccer in the future is still unknown.

The Croatian soccer player Eduardo da Silva was hoping to play in the Euro 2008 (where soccer tickets are in demand), just three months from now, however after viewing the video it's quite obvious to see he has almost no chance of this happening. The Arsenal coach said Martin Taylor should be banned from soccer for life for such a tackle. Arsene Wenger later retracted from his comments - stating they were spurred on by the moment.

Various blogs across the web are suggesting that the famous Harry Potter fansite: MuggleNet has been hacked.

If you try and access MuggleNet right now, it gives a message that the site is off line. No further information has been released by MuggleNet. I tried visiting an old bookmark on the site and the page would not open. So there might be some truth in the MuggleNet hacked fact.

If MuggleNet has indeed been hacked, an investigation into all the happenings is probably already underway.

We will keep trying to find out more information regarding the MuggleNet hacked story, MuggleNet might release a statement when their site is back up, so far it's only been down for a few hours. So far this is only a rumor, nothing is official yet.

Well I just came across one of the greatest clips I have ever seen online. Two pre-med students have made a clip where they dance to the Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger song. There is some great choreography in this clip, especially when the music speeds up. Anyway, see for yourself:

After 10 years of being in retirement, the former world champion - Pete Sampras has defeated today's world number one Roger Federer in an unbelievable match earlier today. The match was played in Macau, Asia and was the third and final showdown of the Sampras Vs Federer exhibition games that took place this past week.

The crowd were feasted to one of the greatest tennis games of all time. The former US World champion Pete Sampras - of Greek origin played beautiful tennis, taking the match in just two sets after winning the first tie breaker 7-6(10-8).

Cooking a turkey seems to be something everyone wants to do this Thanksgiving. Here is information about cooking a turkey, with instructions all nice and clear about cooking a turkey this thanksgiving. Tradition tells us that it is appropriate for one to be cooking a turkey for thanksgiving which is why I made this post.

Here are some steps related to cooking a turkey. I am studying engineering, so I like instructions all set out in an orderly and easy-to-follow method. This turkey recipe should guide you in helping you carve and thaw a turkey so you can provide one delicious turkey meal using this recipe for Thanksgiving which happens tomorrow.

Cooking a turkey step 1:
Pour water over your 500g turkey for one hour, which allows to it thaw for a while.

Cooking a turkey step 2:
Clean out the turkey, to do this you need to remove the neck and giblets located on the turkey, then pour some salt and pepper over the turkey you are about to cook.

Cooking a turkey step 3:
Place the turkey on a roasting pan, for great flavor I suggest you pour some butter over the turkey. Cover the whole turkey with foil and roast it at about 320F (160C) for 25 minutes for you 0.5 kg turkey until the butter starts to disappear. Remove the foil cover and roast the turkey for another 60 minutes.

Cooking a turkey step 4:
Once the turkey has been cooked, allow to to stand for a further 30 minutes, let all the excess juice evaporate.

Cooking a turkey step 5:
Your turkey should be done, now all you need to do is carve, which is an easy process. How to carve a turkey takes nothing really, just cut in the turkey how you feel should be the best way to carve it, and then decorate your carved turkey. Enjoy you turkey, and Thanksgiving greetings from myself!

Many of you might have seen the new Apple iPod Touch advert on TV, but if your not from the States (like myself) then you might not have heard the remarkable story about this advert. It began as a YouTube clip made by someone in their spare time.

The advert received allot of attention online, for it's catchy music which harmonizes perfectly with Apple's recently released iPod Touch.

The big noise about this clip, is that it was picked up by Apple, who quickly got hold of Nick Haley (currently resides in England) and flew him all the way to America, to work on an official version of the iPod Touch advert.

Rumor has it that Nick Haley has earned between $50,000 - $500,000 for the clip, but no official figure has been released. What has been confirmed is that Apple have made a significant contribution to the young man's studies (Politics) and Nick walked away with some awesome Apple gear, such as the latest MacBook Pro and an extra iPod Touch or two.

Today is Roald Dahl day, the birthday of famous Welsh Novelist Roald Dahl. The writer, was of Norweign parentage and is famous for writing books such as Charlie and the Chocolate factory, The Twits and The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Roald Dahl has been named as one of the greatest authors of all time, and recent polls suggest that Roald Dahl is favoured more than JK Rowling amongst young adults.

I personally have read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a child, and it is certainly one of the most amazing books I ever, it's one I would highly recommend all children and adults!

My favorite has to be Fantastic Mr. Fox, which is apparently making the big screen one of these days, as a contract has been signed for a motion picture version of it to be made.

A famous book amongst Roald Dahl fans would be The Twits. The book has been written is such a wonderful manner that it is so quick and straight forward to read, the amount of humor in the book is really phenomenal, one of the funniest I've ever read.

I would highly recommend you to read one or two Roald Dahl books, on this the day of his birthday as all the books are extremely quick reads, and as the polls suggest, Roald Dahl was one of the greatest authors of all time.

Radio frequencies burning salt water is in fact nothing new, what happens is the water is broken up into its constituent elements, namely hydrogen and oxygen.

Once you have oxygen, combustion is easy. With a strong enough frequency, the oxygen will combust and hence we see burning.

It has never been done before, that is why there is so much fuss about it, but sadly it takes much more energy to achieve the combustion than the actual energy you get out of it. But it may open windows to optimizing this technology and get more out of it.

So I'm sure many of you have seen the video that everyone's talking about of Miss South Carolina answering a question in Miss Teen USA, here it is again for those of you who haven't seen it:

A few days later, Miss Teen South Carolina appeared on the Today Show and was allowed a second chance by answering the question again.
Here's her response:

Apparently answering questions in the competition has no influence on where you place in the event, as Miss South Carolina made it into the top 5 after that answer.
